Extension Educator - Tree Fruit Pest Management Programs

Amy Irish-Brown is the Extension Educator for Commercial Tree Fruit producers in 6 counties - Kent, Ottawa, Ionia, Montcalm, Muskegon and Newaygo. While she covers all aspects of tree fruit production, her focus is on Integrated Pest Management (IPM).  She has been with  Michigan State University Extension since 1991.

Amy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from Michigan State University (1989), focusing on the science of pomology and pest management.  Her Master degree is a Professional Master's of Integrated Pest Management degree, through the Michigan State University Department of Entomology (2001).  She is currently working towards a PhD in Plant Pathology with MSU. Amy's background experience includes having worked on a small apple farm, worked for researchers while an undergraduate at MSU, scouted fruits and vegetables, managed a retail greenhouse, worked for a mail-order garden catalog, and some commercial nursery experience.

Amy's goal is to help the commercial tree fruit industry find new and innovative tools to incorporate into an integrated cropping system to ensure that the bottom line will result in a profitable, yet environmentally sound agribusiness.
