Advanced Degrees for MSUE Staff Members
Since 2007 all candidates for promotion within the MSU Extension academic system must have a minimum of an earned master’s degree. This is also the standard for new staff members. To assist those who wish to pursue further education, the MSU Extension professional development unit makes available information on programs in which personnel have participated. Staff members who have recently completed or are pursuing degrees are asked to complete the online Master’s Degree Information Form. The resulting information is made available to MSUE members considering graduate study. To learn more about a particular degree, click on the program title. In most cases, that will also reveal the staff member who provided the information and who can be contacted for more.
While this is intended to be useful for MSU Extension members, it is neither a comprehensive list of available and/or appropriate programs, nor will all programs listed here be appropriate for all staff. It is not a substitute for thorough research, consultation with supervisors and peers, and a discussion with faculty members at institutions under consideration. The MSUE professional development unit staff is also available to help think through and analyze graduate study opportunities. Contact them at profdev@anr.msu.edu.
There is limited tuition assistance available from the MSU Extension Director's office for those pursuing Master's Degrees.
