Breastfeeding Education

The Breastfeeding Initiative Program also known as the Mother to Mother Program is a free program that offers breastfeeding information, encouragement and support to WIC and Food Stamp eligible participants.  We offer the program to the women in Shiawassee County who are pregnant and interested in breastfeeding and those who have already had their child and are breastfeeding.  Our clients may stay on the program until the child turns a year old.  We help the mom learn the benefits of breastfeeding and how to make it work.

The first Wednesday of every month we have our Lunch Bunch.  It is offered to breastfeeding mothers, nursing mothers and their families.  We get together to receive information and to socialize with other parents.  The whole family is welcome.  It is a breastfeeding and child friendly group.  For information feel free to contact us at 989-743-2251.

Fun with Cherrios

How many things can you do with your toddler using Cherrios? The amazing thing about Cherrios,

is that they are educational as well as safe and fun.  Here are a few ideas to get started.

  • Put some on a table and put them in piles of two. (Beginning Math)
  • Put dots on a piece of paper and let your child place Cherrios on top of the dots. (Beginning Math)
  • String Cherrios onto yarn to make bracelets. (Crafts)
  • Grab a handful and estimate how many you have, then count to see who was closes.  (Beginning Math)
  • Drop them into a jar.  (Great for developing coordination skills)
