 What is MSU Extension?

MSUE provides knowledge-based educational programs to the state's citizens to improve their lives and communities.  County-based staff members, in concert with on-campus faculty members, serve every county with programming focused on agriculture and natural resources; children, youth and families; and community and economic development.

Solutions to today's complex challenges require a broad range of expertise and the collaboration of many partners.  Incollbaboration with the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station and other MSU units, MSU Extension extends the university's knowledge resources to all Michigan residents.

Responding to the needs of Saginaw County citizens through research and education

Michigan's rapidly changing inductrial sector and evolving needs produce new challenges and opportunities for individuals, families and communities.  Five strategic priorities are the focus of our programming which use the university's research capability, knowledge base and community-based education to address the rpiority needs of people across Michigan:  These priorities are:

  • Developing entrepreneurs

  • Promoting healthy lifestyles

  • Preparing for the expanding bioeconomy

  • Educating and supporting decision makers

  • Building leaders for today and tomorrow

   Do you know your numbers?

The MSU Extension “I Know MI Numbers” (pronounced: “I know my numbers”) initiative is intended to inspire Michigan residents to actively engage in understanding what “numbers” translate into healthier living, a cleaner environment, educational achievement, good local government, and ultimately, a prosperous Michigan.
