NUTRITIONAL EDUCATION OVERVIEW

MSU Extension offers FREE nutrition education to those that qualify. The topics covered include "My Plate & My Pyramid", label reading, food safety, healthy snacks, basic nutrition and shopping smartly. Our nutrition instructors teach in a variety of settings with individuals across the lifespan, from preschoolers to older adults. For a More Detailed Overview

Michigan Fresh Fact Sheets
 
MSU Extension Michigan Fresh educational program helps people explore our state’s bounty of fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and ornamentals. Michigan Fresh fact sheets feature topics such as dealing with tomato disease, selecting healthy transplants, starting seeds and preserving tomatoes. Many fact sheets focus on individual produce such as asparagus, rhubarb, raspberries, strawberries and cherries. Many more fact sheets are in the works. This hotline is staffed by food safety specialists with backgrounds in home economics, nutrition, and food technology. The “real person” hotline is available from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays year round. You may also choose from an extensive menu of recorded food safety messages 24 hours a day.
