“Alger County Profile” available from MSU Extension
The Alger County MSU Extension office has a new set of demographic information available relating to community and economic development.Based on the most recent census data, the Alger County Profile booklet compares information from the 2000 census with the 1990 census and contains more recent data where available.Categories include:population (by township and city), educational attainment, age, ethnicity, disability, workforce/unemployment, households/families, income, and poverty levels.This information can be useful to grant writers, local elected officials and other community members interested in details about our county situation.To obtain a copy of the new profile, click on the link below.You may also phone us at 387-2530 or email us at msue.alger@county.msu.edu to request an electronic or written copy.

The MSU Extension “I Know MI Numbers” (pronounced: “I know my numbers”) initiative is intended to inspire Michigan residents to actively engage in understanding what “numbers” translate into healthier living, a cleaner environment, educational achievement, good local government, and ultimately, a prosperous Michigan. The final goal is a state that is thriving and successful.
Please call to make sure that the office is open 906-387-2530 as there may be times that we are closed due to scheduling conflicts/reduced support staff hours.
We are located in the LMAS District Health Dept. Building. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. closed 12:30 - 1:00, Monday through Thursday. There may be times when the office is open prior to 8:30 and/or after 3:30 as well as on Fridays, depending on staff schedules.
