New laws passed in Michigan require food service establishments to employ “certified food managers” who must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge in the areas of food safety, food sanitation, and the current concepts and principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). By June 30, 2009, Michigan food service establishments must have a certified full-time managerial employee. The MSU Extension ServSafe training provides food workers with the training, knowledge and preparation needed to take the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Exam. Successfully passing the exam is required for certification.
