- Medical leave with pay is granted to employees for the
following
purposes:
- Personal illness or incapacity over which the employee
has no
reasonable
control which prohibits the performance of job duties.
- Absence from work because of exposure to contagious
disease, which
would
constitute a danger to the health of others by the employee's work
attendance.
- To complete appointments for medical or dental treatment
when it is not
possible to arrange such appointments during non-duty hours.
- Medical leave with pay is not granted for attending to
family
members.
Annual leave is to be used for such purposes.
- There is no medical leave payoff when terminating
employment.
- Statements from physician/health care providers are
required for medical
leave situations.
- Medical leave of one (1) month or more duration requires
the submission
of a Leave of Absence form to the Provost's Office. The form is
prepared
by the Regional Director/unit administrator and submitted to the MSUE
Human
Resources office for processing.
