SUBJECT: A Masters Degree Is the Minimum Requirement for MSU Extension Academic Staff
 
POLICY: A Masters Degree, in a relevant area of study, is the minimum requirement for MSU Extension academic staff. 
 
APPLIES TO: MSUE provost-appointed academic staff
   
PROVISIONS/ RESTRICTIONS:
  • All new hires in MSUE academic positions are required to have at least a Masters Degree.
  • Attainment of a Masters Degree is not a condition for retaining MSUE employment for academic staff employed before October 1, 2006.
  • Academic staff employed before October 1, 2006 who do not have a Master’s Degree may continue in a current position and, consistent with existing policy and practices, are eligible for other positions of like responsibilities or lesser responsibilities.
  • Consistent within Extension, promotion to positions of greater responsibility will require attainment of a relevant Master’s Degree.
  • MSUE staff members who do not have a Master’s Degree, are eligible to apply for Step III status
