| POLICY: |
Michigan State University Extension employees
have a moral, though not legal, responsibility to report suspected
child abuse or neglect. |

| APPLIES TO: |
MSUE staff members. |

| PROVISIONS/RESTRICTIONS: |
| |
- While Michigan’s Child Protection statute legally obligates
certain public employees to report suspected child abuse or neglect,
MSUE employees are not subject to the law.
- Although not legally obligated to report suspected child
abuse or neglect, MSUE feels that its employees are morally obligated
to report as if legally obligated.
- MSUE staff are not subject to criminal penalty for not
reporting as those who are covered by the law.
