| POLICY: | A study leave with pay, formal study or educational travel, may be granted to improve professional competence. |

| TYPES: |
2. Three months (full pay) 3. Six Months (full pay) 4. Twelve months (one-half pay) |
| ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: |
2. Three months leave: Three years of satisfactory service 3. Six months leave: Six years of satisfactory service 4. Twelve months leave: Six years of satisfactory service |
| PROVISIONS/RESTRICTIONS: | |
b. Four weeks leave: 5 days plus travel time amount c. Three months leave: 11 days d. Six months; Twelve months leave: 22 days 3. A study leave requires a report of no more than one page to be submitted within 30 days following conclusion of the leave to the Unit Head/Regional Director. The report should provide an assessment and evaluation of the leave accomplishments in relation to the study leave plan. |

| PROCEDURES: | |
2. Approved study leaves of four weeks or more, require the submission of a Leave of Absence form to the Provost's Office. The form is prepared by the Regional Director/unit administrator and submitted to the MSUE Human Resources office for processing. |
