MODEL POSITION DESCRIPTION
EXTENSION PROGRAM ASSOCIATE III
BASIC FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for managing a special program/project and/or a program emphasis area
(Agriculture and Natural Resources; Children Youth and Families; Community and Economic
Development).
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the planning, development, organization, implementation and evaluation of a
special program/project and/or program emphasis area.
- Manages the work activities of program support staff and/or program volunteer leaders.
- Plans and carries out learning experiences for program clients/participants/volunteers
through home visits, individual contacts, group meetings, workshops and/or mass media.
- Recruits, selects, trains, and evaluates program support staff.
- Recruits, trains, and works with program volunteer leaders.
- Works with committees/councils which provide input about program direction and assist in
program implementation.
- Participates in training to stay current in necessary program/project subject-matter
content and process skills.
- Manages program/project promotion, expansion and evaluation activities.
- Serves on program developmental committees and other advisory groups.
- Prepares and maintains required program/project records and reports.
- Is knowledgeable of and implements diversity and affirmative action principles.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED FROM:
County Extension Director or Extension Agent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Attainment of an associate's degree or equivalent; knowledge related to the
program/project emphasis of the position; a minimum of two years experience in Extension
or educational programming and/or other position related experience; supervisory
experience desirable; effective communication skills; effective human relations skills;
full time access to an insured automobile.
