Blackleg and Soft Rot of Potatoes

Blackleg and soft rot are caused by related subspecies of the bacterium Erwinia carotovora, and are found wherever potatoes are grown. The subspecies that causes blackleg generally only affects potatoes, but has been reported in the sunflower.
